News

Velo 99

Good performances were made by several Melton riders at Serlby on 13th May. Michael Townsend winning Group1, Bill Vetcher, with a fine sprint, winning Group3 and Gary Ison placing 3rd in Group4. We were a bit shorthanded in Groups 5 & 6 so arch rivals Witham Wheelers pocketed the prize money here. Perhaps we need a team talk?

Sad News

Reg Holcombe passed away on 26th April aged 87 years after not being at his best for some years. The funeral is on Friday 11th May at Grantham Crematorium at 11.45am.

Reg was a long time Life Member of the club after joining during the first year (1980). The longer standing members will remember his and wife Vi's days at his house and workshop in Asfordby, (you did not have to be in a hurry when visiting). Vi passed away some years ago. Reg was an excellent frame builder, whilst Vi provided the tea.

Reg liked his long distance rides and the club handbook still has two of his veteran age records at 12 hour. Both of these were achieved with last minute decisions and very little training compared to today's methods.

RIP Reg

The Mayday bank holiday saw the Spring 25 on the A25/2 with 8 club members racing for scratch, handicap and Pete Curtis points. Overall winner was Chris Walker finishing with a 58:33. See results on Time Trial page.

Don't forget Club Subs are now due for 2012. £15 for seniors
